Warlords Battlecry 3 Empty
PostSubject: Warlords Battlecry 3   Warlords Battlecry 3 Icon_minitimeSun May 10, 2009 9:54 am

Since someone in their clan application mentioned one of the Favorites to be Warlords Battlecry, i decided to make a rundown on it.

Warlords Battlecry is a rpg/rts in 2D. You be the hero (Variety of races) and usually beat the snot out of the opposition. In the early game, your hero must build (Omg ! He can build!) a town hall (or what ever it is called for other factions) and convert (a Hero and generals ability) mines. From this point on, its slaughterfest.
Heroes level up , giving you 1 stat point (str, dex, int, cha) and 1 skill point. Your heros skills are determined by the class you took, and the race you took. Some races give out probably too good skills (Like the daemons with their goddamn Invulnerability skill, 5 to all physical resistance per level) and some kinda....tickle.
There are a nice variety of items your hero can pick up (and create if they have rune/alchemy magic), and usually it tends to be that more melee/close combat stuff you have, lower the chance to cast spells. There are set items, unique items and lots of crappy stuff.
Magic costs mana and has a chance of succeeding (Higher the int, more chance it has to be cast). Each point you put into magic gives you a new spell, untill level 10, then it goes on another round, starting to give level 2 spells. Theres a chance you can cast the spell on level 2 (determined by int) , if that fails, it will cast a lower level spell, or fail. Spells range from summons (capped by unit limit) Damage spells (usually projectiles) Debuffs (fright, awe) Buffs (stone skin) and Plain awesome spells (say, the ''improve spell'' and theoretically the last Spell of Arcane magic, the big boom)
On the battlefield, you may find mauseleums or shrines, giving you quests. Quests must be done in a timelimit, usually ranging from ''kill X*,Y**,Z***'' or give resources. Finishing quests give exp, units or resources.
Music sucks. Turn it off and play your own. Trust me on this.
The visuals...ehh... hmm... what visuals? Theres a fair bit of repetition in visuals, especially the icons (WoW does it too), Special effects are a few sparkles, projectiles, nothing epix.
The unit variety for each race is quite good and also the playstyle. Undead can upgrade their units on the spot , costing resources (oh look , bunch of skeletons...wait...WTF? OHMG DOOM KNIGHTS). Theres the Ssrath'i, mah favorite race (not for the units, but the way they look), who have Dinosaurs and no siege units.

So yeah, that quite sums it up. Worth playing? It looks like diablo, but with 20% more slaughter. So if you are a sadist who wants slaughter (Probably why you play savage) , yeh this game could work for you. I haven't tested the multiplayer *cough*torre-*cough*-nt*cough*.
