Thoughts on PUG this evening?

So we had a (nearly) all CN pug match tonight on kunlunpass.

Thoughts from you guys? I thought we did very well, good defensive cover at their demo rushes, kept the bats up with the ninjas, and the classic strategy of outpost - nexus - towers - tech - behe rush - hs seemed to do the job nicely.

Although taking out the armory with saccers was a masterstroke =)

was fun and played nicely.

big point to improve is squadmovement. first i would say stay together but its not that simple.

i played squadleader for the defensesquad but had little to no room for commands or grouping. i think the whole match i gave a "prepare for portal" 2 times. woohoo. this is mostly the case because i m jumping around the map. placing a bat there, fighting of this 1 guy there, i m simply not that big of a pusher and perhaps i m not the best officermaterial for us.

2 options have to be considered. either the officer keeps his squad together with waiting and slowing down. the other option is the officer always pushes and his squad waits for his portal. one important thing to recognize is, that hanging out in spawn is no wasted time. often its best to hang out there watching the minimap and fullfill the urgenst task. i tend to option 2 and would make squadgrouping the main task of the squad, not the officer as slowing down waiting costs that much space.

overall it was very good match as all important tasks like bats and defending against pushes worked very well. with preset coordination like bat-responsibilities and squadroutes this can be improved even more.

i agree, and to the 2 thought, when i got armor + potion im buying recall trinket, so if i'm fighting with some end not die in the end ,after the command 'spawn in spawn portal' i use trinket , in the other scenario i wait in spawn queue after i die xd

btw. is that wiwi UI that have commands like ' i can respawn in ... seconds' etc ? cause i think that would be helpfull for the officers. I'll try to fix my mic for next match

I had an idea about the officer grouping thing:

Offence squad : Stick together, push offensively but through the enemy to keep them back

Defence squad : Squad members act as "firemen", spawning where needed killing enemy, placing bats etc. Squad leader acts as "solo distract" and attacks the enemy base mine, random other expansion etc, and if he spots a good place for attack, calls for a portal and waits for the others.

(of course, when the solo member calls for a full attack, he states it over chat as well so Offence squad can keep an eye out for fires)

Just an idea ofc, but having a solo harrasser might keep the opponent off balance, and two members plus the three fighting in the middle should be enough to handle most things. (in the event of a rush we all come back on def of course)

It all comes down to the commander.

Personally i think that the officers should always and only be trying to place portals behind nme lines or switching the main attack onto another undefended target and the sqd members of any sqd should primarily defend and obviously take care of all those jobs that need doing, placing eyes and repairing building if needed etc.

The sqd members having done their jobs can attack freely down the easiest / closest / most obvious route or against the tide of the attackers target and when the officers are ready for portals they should call it ahead of time where possible but not too far place the portal and wait for a member to spawn.

members can spawn when they die or when they are able return to base.

officers can then either attack the same target which would increase the amount of team members joining the attack as there would be 2 portals or they could try and coordinate their attacks on 2 seperate locations at the same time so that recallers or other defenders may get confused about which target is actually being attacked.

portal attacks can then be started with either the officer + 1 or could wait for more members to come through.

we got another PUG today, and i can surely tell that Ledah can be offence officer he's doing really good

Yeah realy nice teamwork guf and hra, they stacked like 180/150 sf and we win cuz of teamwork, realy enojed it, that was dam good

Thing is we didnt just beat them, we ruled them right from the start and all the way through til they quit
